NEW YORK (AP) — Ann Wilson put it this way: “just when you think you know the shape of Rock ‘n’ Roll, it changes shape on you.” She says it had gotten to the point that she and younger sister Nancy got to thinking that Heart would never make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ann says it became “a running joke” among the band that they’d never get in. But this year, they did — and now she says the honor is “really more than thrilling.” Nancy says it’s nice to put behind them the speculation about whether they’d make it in — not that she ever believed they weren’t worthy. Says Nancy: “We feel like we deserve it, so we’re happy to be here.” Neither sister feels she was an inspiration to other women that eventually played in rock ‘n’ roll bands. Ann says she looks forward to the time when there is no gender designation on music.
The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on April 18.
