Mike Jacobs Signs Minor League Deal With Seattle

(1090 The Fan) – Continuing to pick up veterans looking to turn their careers around, the Mariners have inked first baseman Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, according to Greg Johns of MLB.com.

Jacobs, 32, spent the entire 2011 campaign in AAA with the Colorado Rockies’ affiliate in Colorado Springs. He spent the majority of the 2012 season in AAA with the Arizona Diamondbacks’ affiliate in Reno, but did make 23 plate appearances in the majors with the Diamondbacks in September, tallying just four hits.

The San Diego-native has shown power; in 2008, he hit 32 home runs and 93 RBIs for the Florida Marlins.
