(1090 The Fan Seattle) – The University of Washington’s Bay Area sweep got attention of the rest of the conference, and C.J. Wilcox is largely to thank.
The junior guard was named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13, the Conference announced Monday.
Wilcox averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assist and 1.5 blocks this weekend in the victories over the California Golden Bears and the Stanford Cardinal.
The sweep over both schools was the first for the Huskies since 1985, according to a press release issued by the University of Washington. The Huskies have started the Pac-12 season with three-consecutive road wins for the first time since 1912.
This is Wilcox’s second career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor, earning the first Player of the Week of last season on Nov. 14, 2011. It is the 45th all-time selection for Washington and their first this season.
