KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a body tentatively identified as a Klamath Falls man missing since December has been found in a forested area west of that southern Oregon city.
Lt. Gregg Hastings said the body was found Wednesday by a former Klamath County search and rescue member walking near where Robert Lear’s car was found abandoned on Dec. 23 on a spur road.
The state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy. The 39-year-old man’s relatives have been notified.
Relatives reported Lear missing on Dec. 20, saying they last heard from him nine days earlier. Searchers found no trace of Lear after they located his car. The search for him was suspended as weather conditions deteriorated. At the time there was deep snow in the area.
The Oregonian reports Lear had been moving to Seattle.
