Blog About Customers Costs Barista His Job
(CBS Seattle) – A Georgetown coffee shop worker lost his job after being outed as “The Bitter Barista” blogger, according to The Seattle Times.
Matt Watson, 30, created what he calls a satirical blog to accentuate the “5 percent” of customers who make baristas’ jobs more difficult. Some post examples he provided to The Seattle Times included statements like, “If you remind me four times that you’ve ordered decaf, guess what you won’t be getting…”
Watson calimed had had a “good personal relationship” with 95 percent of his customers.
The Bitter Barista blog went live two weeks ago and soon began getting a couple thousand hits a day. Watson never mentioned the name of his particular shop in his posts, All City Coffee, but management did not want to be associated with the blog.
