HOQUIAM, Wash. (CBS Seattle) - A man was caught drilling holes into the ceiling of a neighbor for the purpose of spying on her while she slept – by the resident’s cats.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is reporting that local resident Kevin Voss found a way to access a crawl space located directly above the apartment of a woman who identified herself as Sally.
Voss, a registered sex offender, and his unidentified roommate reportedly went into the crawl space and drilled holes into the ceiling over her bedroom. The men allegedly masturbated while watching her sleep, court documents obtained by the paper learned.
On Jan. 31 at around 3 a.m., Sally’s cats noticed the commotion caused by the men moving around above them, and drew the woman’s attention to it by continually staring at the ceiling.
“My cats all went in the kitchen, and they were looking up at the ceiling,” she told the Post-Intelligencer. “And when I looked up, I saw somebody walking across the ceiling. And I could hear them walking.”
When she hit the ceiling, one of the men fell. The other ran away from the scene.
“[W]hen I opened the door, I saw the back of Kevin going around the corner,” Sally added.
Several days later, Voss was arrested, and is being held in prison on $25,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty to a voyeurism charge on Monday.
His roommate is reportedly not facing charges. And though the men have been found out, Sally said she is anything but reassured.
“I don’t like it. It’s creepy. It’s gross,” she told the paper. “And it ain’t over yet … It’s scarred me for life.”
