(CBS Seattle) – The Minnesota Golden Gophers shocked the NCAA world Tuesday night by beating No. 1 Indiana at home.

The consequence of losing to an unranked team means that Indiana will take a significant tumble from the top spot, making way for No. 2 Gonzaga to assume the coveted position.

Hayden Deitrick of the Bleacher Report argues that despite a stellar conference record, a dominating conference performance in an “undervalued WCC,” Gonzaga is still being pegged as being “overrated” by critics. And when the team is deemed #1 in the AP Poll, the criticism will only get louder. In fact, there are rumblings that Gonzaga will likely be the first team since 1991 to be ranked number one in the country but not seeded as a top team in the NCAA Tournament.

Deitrick has created a one-sheet on why Gonzaga haters need to back down, and for once, give the consistently powerful basketball school some long overdue credit. He also argues against several stereotypes including the popular “Gonzaga only wins at home,” excuse.
