(1090 The Fan) – Today the Mariners and Red Sox are expected to finalize the deal that sent Mike Carp to Boston last month.
Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports the M’s will get cash for Carp, 27, as part of the February 20th trade.
Carp, who had been considered a promising power hitter within the organization, was destined to be dealt after a handful of off-season moves (the acquisitions of Kendrys Morales and Mike Morse to name a couple) indicated he wasn’t in the team’s future plans.
In four seasons at the pro level, Carp’s best season came in 2011 when he hit 12 home runs and 46 RBIs in 290 at-bats.
