Mariners Acquire Aaron Harang

(1090 The Fan) – Seattle is wasting no time in improving its starting rotation.

The Mariners have acquired right-handed pitcher Aaron Harang from the Rockies in exchange for minor league pitcher Steven Hensley.

Harang has been on three major league ball clubs in a span of a week. The Rockies sent catcher Ramon Hernandez to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week for Harang, who then was immediately designated for assignment.

Harang, who will wear number 39, is scheduled to earn $7 million for the 2013 season — and his contract allows for a $2 million buyout the following season.

The 34-year-old San Diego State University alum posted a 3.61 ERA in 179 2/3 innings for the Dodgers last year.

To make room for Harang, the Mariners designated right-handed pitcher Kameron Loe for assignment.
