(1090 The Fan) – Another weapon has been added to the Seahawks’ defensive front — this time it’s a speedy, All-Pro cornerback.
Seattle and Antoine Winfield have agreed to a contract, according to team officials.
Winfield was originally the 23rd overall selection by the Buffalo Bills in the 1999 NFL Draft, where he played the first five seasons of his career. He moved on to the Minnesota Vikings as an unrestricted free agent in 2004 and was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2009-11 and the 50 Greatest Vikings Team as part of the club’s 50th season celebration in 2010. Winfield was also named second-team AP All-Pro in 2008.
He started 15 of 16 games played last season and totaled the second-most tackles of his career with 101 (72 solo), adding three interceptions and a career-high 12 passes defensed.
He has played in 191 games with 173 starts, collecting 1,170 tackles (906 solo), 7.5 sacks, 27 interceptions and 89 passes defensed in his career.
