(1090 The Fan) – Our sister station on the other coast, CBS Philadelphia, brought our attention to a recent MLB survey done on fan loyalty.
We know the Mariners, as a franchise, have been through a very dark period for the better part of 12 years (oh how we miss that 2001 season). But, after seeing the results of The Brand Keys Sports Loyalty Index for 2013, it looks like the Mariners fanbase is in a hole as deep as the team.
According to the Survey, our beloved Mariners are owners of the 4th-worst fanbase in all of Major League Baseball. M’s fans are the least-loyal of any west coast franchise, according to the results — and if the Astros had not moved to the AL West, Mariners fans would be the worst in the division.
If 2013 is any indication of where the attitudes of fans are going, the smallest crowd in Safeco Field History last week isn’t helping the cause.
