Body Removed From Seattle Electrical Tower
SEATTLE (AP) — A fire department team has removed the body of a man who apparently was electrocuted while climbing a 200-foot tower carrying high-voltage electrical wires in Seattle.
Department spokesman Kyle Moore says the body was lowered in a basket before 7 a.m. Friday.
Witnesses reported seeing a flash and a person falling before 1 a.m. on the tower in the Fremont neighborhood.
Moore says it was too dangerous for firefighters to climb the tower right away. A helicopter spotted the body on a platform at about the 150-foot level. City Light turned off power so firefighters could recover the body.
The utility was able to switch service, so only one customer was without power during the recovery.
Moore says there’s nothing to indicate why the man climbed the tower.
