(CBS Seattle/AP) — The Dow Jones industrial average set a record Tuesday, closing above 15,000 for the first time.

The Dow rose 87.31 points ending the day at 15,056.20, a gain of 0.6 percent. Boeing finished the trading day up by 0.60 points, or 0.64%. Microsoft finished the day down 0.44 points, or 1.30%.

Overall, the market has been on an epic rise in 2013. Good economic reports, higher corporate profits and support from central banks have eased investors’ concerns of another economic slowdown.

Two months ago the Dow recovered the last of its losses from the financial crisis. So far this year it’s up 15 percent.
