(CBS Seattle/AP) — A Clallam County man was arrested Friday after driving a bulldozer into four homes in Port Angeles, managing to knock one off its foundation.
Investigators were told Barry Alan Swegle was mad at his neighbors and that may have sparked the rampage, though it’s not clear what the feud was about.
A neighbor who lives near one of the damaged homes and told the Peninsula Daily News that the man “just went nuts.” A pick-up truck was damaged and officials are still evaluating the full extent of the damage to the homes.
A utility pole was knocked over, cutting power to thousands of people. As of Friday afternoon, power had been restored to all but about 200 customers, according to the Clallam County Public Utility District. A spokesman says power could remain out to those customers at least through early Saturday morning.
Swegle was booked into the Clallam County Jail for investigation of malicious mischief.
Investigators are looking into whether the man owned the bulldozer.
