Motum Looks To Take Game To Next Level
PULLMAN, Wash. – Reigning Pac-12 Most Improved Player and first team All-Pac-12 basketball star Brock Motum is neck-deep in preparations to take his game to the NBA level.
Since the end of WSU’s season, Motum has been working out in Washington D.C. with his trainer where he has been focusing mainly on his shooting and ball handling. In preparation for the 2013 NBA Draft tonight, Motum worked out with several NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks and most recently, the Indiana Pacers on Monday.
“It’s pretty humbling,” Motum said. “When I first came over (to the States) I didn’t play that much my freshman year, and here I am now. It’s nowhere close to where I want to be, but it’s getting there, it’s a step in the right direction. Hopefully my name gets called out Thursday and my dream comes true. If not, I’m excited to see where my career takes me next and I will continue to work toward my dream”
According to WSU, the workouts consisted of ball handling, shooting drills, one-on-one games and situational three-on-three games. Motum says all the league’s general managers and countless scouts have made appearances during the workouts.
Motum, a 6-foot-10 forward finished his senior season leading the Pac-12 in scoring for the second-straight year with 18.7 points per game, while ranking fourth in the league in conference games only with 17.4 points per league game. He scored at least 11 points in all 32 games this season and reached double-figure scoring in 32-straight games. With 6.3 rebounds per game, Motum ranked 16th in the conference, while he was fifth in minutes played with 35.3 minutes per game. He had 5 double-doubles during the 2012-13 season, including in two in his three final games.
