(1090 The Fan) – The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Charly Martin parted ways Thursday — the team released the four-year veteran and claimed another player off waivers.
According to a release from the team, Seattle claimed long snapper Kyle Nelson (San Francisco).
Martin spent one year in Seattle, playing in four games with one start and recording four receptions for 42 yards last season. He entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with Carolina in 2009 and also spent time on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad in 2011. In four seasons, Martin has played in 12 games with one start, with five receptions for 48 yards with a long of 15.
Nelson snapped in six games last season for the San Diego Chargers after signing as a free agent on November 21, 2012. He was released by San Diego on May 20 and claimed off waivers by San Francisco the following day, until being released on July 10. Signed as an undrafted free agent by New Orleans during training camp of the 2011 season, Nelson has also had stints with Kansas City and Philadelphia.
