(CBS Seattle) — A Pierce County man is accused of attacking and trying to strangle his dog after it chewed on a trampoline, according to KOMO News.
When Pierce County deputies arrived at the house on the morning of July 12, Preston Webber’s wife told them he got mad at the dog for chewing on a trampoline and got a rifle and threatened to shoot the dog. Webber’s wife told deputies her husband beat the dog with the trampoline, then tried to strangle it with its own leash. When she tried to stop him, he shoved her and rubbed dog feces on her face, KOMO reported. Webber told deputies it was only drool, but in court documents, the deputy admitted smelling feces and saw Webber’s wife wiping something off her face.
Deputies took several rifles and a handgun from the house after Webber’s wife asked that they do so.
Webber was charged Monday with three counts of assault and one count of animal cruelty and has pleaded not guilty.
