SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners manager Eric Wedge will miss his second straight game, a day after suffering a dizzy spell during batting practice that landed him in the hospital.
Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik announced before Tuesday’s game against Cleveland that Wedge will spend another night in the hospital while doctors try to determine the cause of his dizziness. Wedge spent Monday night at a hospital and visited with Zduriencik on Tuesday morning, but doctors wanted to continue tests.
Wedge was helped off the field and into the Seattle clubhouse about halfway through the Mariners’ hitting session on Monday. Wedge was examined by team physicians at the stadium before being taken to the hospital.
Bench coach Robby Thompson will fill in as manager for the second straight game.
