(1090 The Fan) — After roughly two months of battling a quad injury, Michael Morse will return to the Mariners Tuesday for the start of a six-game road trip in Boston and Baltimore.
Morse, who was put on the disabled list last month, started a rehab assignment in Tacoma a week ago; in six games he hit .250 with 1 double, 1 home run, 2 RBI, 2 walks and six strikeouts.
Morse injured his quad on May 28 against the Padres and only appeared in 11 of the Mariners 23 games before being put on the DL.
Subsequently, Jason Bay was designated for assignment.
Bay appeared in 68 games with the Mariners this year hitting just .204, but was able to produce 11 home runs. The Mariners now have to trade, release or outright Bay’s contract to the minors within ten days.
