The team later confirmed that the surgery is scheduled for Thursday.
Harvin has been bothered by discomfort in the area, but it’s not clear which hip is giving him trouble; he was in New York getting a second opinion.
The team was also without wide receiver Sidney Rice, who is in Europe undergoing a non-surgical procedure on his knee. Coach Pete Carroll said Rice is expected back at practice when he returns to Seattle.
