80 degree sunshine greeted players and fans at Seahawks camp in Renton. The team had helmets, but no pads today.
Highlights during the 11 on 11 drills included a Brady Quinn 50 yard touchdown pass to Phil bates. Quinn was the victim of an overthrow later in the practice, which was intercepted by Jeremy Lane.
Russell Wilson found newly signed tight end Andrei Lintz on a deep out pattern. Lintz is from Bellingham, and played college ball at WSU. Wilson ended the day’s session with a deep pass to Aceto Clark.
Tarvaris Jackson is listed as number 2 quarterback in Seattle’s depth chart. He threw a nice 40 yard touch pass to Doug Baldwin.
Fans couldn’t help but see big number 77 James Carpenter limp off the field mid way through practice. The Seahawks have not said anything official about the injury. Carpenter has been battling back from knee surgeries to compete for a left guard job.
John Moffitt is listed at number 2 right guard, but told me during an interview for 1090thefan, he is prepared to play left guard, and could even back up Max Unger at center. Moffitt has broken up the training camp grind by catching up on the Soprano’s television episodes.
Several players were missing again Monday due to injuries or precaution. Running back Robert Turbin has been cleared to practice, but did not participate in today’s workout. Defensive end/linebacker Bruce Irvin did not practice, and center Max Unger was given a day off. Defensive linemen Cliff Avril and rookie Jesse Williams were again held out to rest sore legs.
Newly signed receiver Early Ducete will wear number 87. He was just observing today’s practice.
The players are anxious for Thursday night’s first pre-season game in San Diego, especially defensive back Walter Thurmond III. He grew up near San Diego, and his mother and girlfriend will be their to watch him perform.
