OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Campfires are now allowed at state parks in western Washington.
Washington State Parks and the Department of Natural Resources both announced Thursday that they were lifting bans on lands west of the Cascade crest. They were able to ease restrictions due to recent rain and mild weather forecasts.
Campers are still not allowed to build fires or use briquettes on state lands in eastern Washington.
Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark initially issued a burn ban at the end of July due to hot and dry conditions. He says people should remain vigilant regarding wildfire danger.
