(1090 The Fan) — The Aaron Harang era in Seattle looks like it may finally be coming to a close — it all depends on the outcome of the veteran being designated for assignment Monday.
The Mariners have pulled the cord on Harang after a 5-11 record and 5.76 ERA after 22 starts with the team. Seattle now has 10 days to trade, release or outright the contract of Harang to the minors.
Simultaneously, the team has recalled 30-year-old Franklin Gutierrez from his rehab assignment.
Gutierrez, who is making a rare appearance off the disabled list will bat third and play right field in tonight’s game against the Texas Rangers. Guti’s most recent rehab assignment (August 11 – 25) featured a 7-for-39 performance with 3 RBIs.
