(CBS Seattle) — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says a teenager was shot and killed on the Key Peninsula Monday after waving a chainsaw at his father’s girlfriend.
According to the Tacoma News Tribune, the 19-year-old man demanded that his father’s girlfriend and her son leave the property in Vaughn late Monday night, but she refused. That’s when the man started the chainsaw and threatened to cut people, the News Tribune reported. The woman’s son heard yelling the sound of the chainsaw and went inside the mobile home with a loaded gun, Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told the News Tribune.
The son talked the man into putting down the chainsaw, but he picked it up again and that’s when the alleged shooter fired. The 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. So far, no charges have been filed against the shooter because it appears to be self defense. The case is being turned over to the prosecutor’s office.
