(1090 The Fan / Sports Network) — Rookie starter Taijuan will face the Houston Astros for a second time this season Monday as the Mariners play host in a three-game series at Safeco Field.
Walker, who was called up late last month, will make his first appearance at Safeco Field.
Walker won his Major League debut on Aug. 30, when he allowed an unearned run in five innings of a 7-1 win at Houston. He then took the hill in Wednesday’s 6-4 win at Kansas City, but was
reached for four runs in five innings for a no-decision. The rookie has yet to throw 80 pitches in a game.
The Astros have lost 10 of their last 13 games and hope Jarred Cosart can right the ship when he takes the mound Monday. Cosart, also a rookie right-hander, is 1-1 in nine starts with a 2.13 ERA and hasn’t recorded a win since July 12, going 0-1 in eight subsequent outings.
Seattle has won 10 of 16 matchups with Houston this season and had a six-game winning streak in this series stopped on Sept. 1 at Minute Maid Park.
