Newborn Baby Found Dead In Eagle River Park

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Anchorage police say they have identified the mother of a newborn baby girl found dead in an Eagle River park.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said Tuesday night in a statement that the mother called for medical help. The spokeswoman says no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

Castro did not provide any additional details.

A person found the newborn not breathing just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Turner Park. The baby was wrapped in a towel.

The body will be sent to the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
