Marshawn Lynch has become a focal point of the Seahawks offense due to his recent  lack of carries, and because he’s been held out of the first two practices this week.

Lynch’s sore knee is the reason he’s on the official injury report.  Getting just 8 carries for 23 yards in the Seahawks meager victory at St. Louis is something he and Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell have addressed.

“Obviously you want your competitors to want the ball.  I talked with Marshawn about it,” said Bevell. “I want Marshawn to want the ball.  I want Golden Tate to want the ball, and Doug (Baldwin), and all those guys. They should feel like that all the time, that if we give if to them, they feel like that’s the best chance for us to be successful.”

Bevell is also drawing up a game plan which no longer has tall receiver Sidney Rice as a target.  Head coach Pete Carroll also told Sirius XM NFL Percy Harvin will not play this Sunday against visiting Tampa Bay.  The team continues to be very cautious about Harvin’s return from hip labrum surgery.

Quarterback Russell Wilson sounded confident in the remaining receivers who will have to step up their play against an aggressive Buccaneers defense.

“Playing the game of football guys are going to have a chance to make a difference, ” stated Wilson. “Jermaine Kearse is going to have to step into that position. Bryan Walters, a guy who’s from Seattle, I know he’ll do a good job for us and he’s excited to get in there.”

Other players not participating in Thursday  practice include fullback Derrick Coleman (hamstring), tackle Breno Giacomini (knee), safety Jeron Johnson (hamstring), and Brandon Mebane, (non injury related).

Limited in practice were defensive lineman Michael Bennett was with an illness, and guard J.R. Sweezy(elbow).

Cornerback Richard Sherman downplayed his off-season twitter feud with Tampa Bay corner Darrelle Revis.  Sherman said in fact the Bucaneers style of zone defense is probably not allowing Revis to prove he is one of the top corners in the league.
