Explosive Found In Evicted Tenant’s Apartment

KENT, Wash. (AP) — A fire department official in the south Seattle suburb of Kent says the Port of Seattle bomb squad has found at least one Molotov cocktail after responding to a report of suspicious items left in the apartment of an evicted tenant.

Kent Fire Department Capt. Kyle Ohashi said nearby apartments were evacuated Wednesday as a precaution. He says “potentially threatening messages” were found on the apartment door.

Ohashi says residents returned after the hazardous materials were removed and the apartment was turned over to the manager.

The spokesman says the tenant is in jail on unrelated charges.
