Move on from suspension news.  Focus on the next game against the New Orleans Saints.  That was clearly the message delivered to the Seahawks as they returned to full practice mode on a sunny Wedensday afternoon in Renton.

With defensive back Walter Thurmond suspended the next 4 games and Brandon Browner waiting for the outcome of his NFL suspension appeal hearing, the task is getting back-ups ready to face one of the most prolific offenses in pro football; Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

New starting right corner Byron Maxwell is trying not to be overwhelmed by the challenge.  “Yeah he’s (Brees) a dynamic quarterback.  It’s a regular week, you have to focus on yourself and your technique and what you do best, and everything else will work out, ” said Maxwell.

Safety Earl Thomas III  trusts Maxwell and another young db Jeremy Lane will do their jobs in Seattle’s defensive scheme.

“I have the same chip on my shoulder whether it’s the guys we started the season with or the second string, because they’re just as good,” said Thomas.  “Nobody knew about  Richard Sherman until he got his opportunity.”

We never got to talk with defensive back Perrish Cox.  The ex-49er was signed on Tuesday, and curiously, waived by Seattle on Wednesday.  In a companion move, the Hawks signed DeShean Shead off the practice squad.

Receiver Percy Harvin was the only player limited in Seattle’s practice.  Coach Pete Carroll said the plan is to rest Harvin’s surgically repaired hip off- and- on throughout the remainder of the season.  Carroll said he would be surprised if Harvin did NOT play Monday night against the Saints.

Tight end Zach Miller was our guest on 1090TheFan from VMAC.  While some teammates went fishing in Cabo, or grabbed some rest in warm places,  Miller was on daddy duty with twin 9- month- old daughters.  The joys of fatherhood will be extra special for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Seahawks have tomorrow off, but some of the  offensive lineman have taken up a collection and plan to hand out turkeys in the Renton area.
