RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service has suspended mail delivery to a Rapid City neighborhood because a carrier was bitten by a dog.
The last piece of mail residents on the 100 block of Montana Street got was a Nov. 8 letter saying they can pick up their mail at the post office.
A spokesman says it is an inconvenience for the 16 homes, but the agency has to keep its employees safe.
Lucie Ronfeldt says her husband had a stroke, so she has to go to the post office now to get the mail. She says it’s not fair the whole neighborhood is punished because of one dog.
An animal control officer says the attack is under investigation and the agency will determine whether the dog is dangerous.
