UMATILLA, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Corrections Department says a 67-year-old inmate serving time at a northeast Oregon prison died after being found unconscious in his single cell.

In a statement, state officials say Larry Hurst was found late Saturday night. Staffers at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla began CPR and tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The Statesman Journal reports that the Oregon State Criminal Investigation Division is looking into the death. The Corrections Department says a preliminary investigation shows no clear evidence of any crime.

Hurst was serving time for five counts of marijuana delivery to a minor and one count of attempted second-degree sodomy out of Deschutes County. His earliest release date was January 2015.
