Drunken Santa Disrupts ‘Ride The Ducks’ Tour
(CBS Seattle) — After being denied a free ride on the Ride the Ducks Tour Saturday, an intoxicated man dressed as Santa Claus ripped down Christmas lights off one of the tour’s vehicles in downtown Seattle, according to Seattle Police.
The man reportedly tried to escape after disrupting the tour but was quickly detained by nearby mall security guards.
Employees of the Ride the Ducks tour were unloading passengers from an amphibious “duckcraft” near 4th Ave and Pine Street Saturday evening when the man climbed aboard. The vehicles’ conductors said they smelled alcohol on the man and asked if he had a ticket. According to police, the man admitted not having a ticket but declared he “had ID.” He then asked if he could ride on the “next trip.”
The man said he hadn’t mean to rip down the Duckboat’s Christmas lights during the disruption, and said he’d accidentally pulled them down after slipping on wet pavement.
There is no word yet on what charges the man faces.
