(1090 The Fan) — An 18-4 run over the final seven minutes of the first half carried Gonzaga to a 73-51 win over Saint Mary’s, Thursday night.
Przemek Karnowski scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had seven blocks while Kevin Pangos added 15 points as well to lead Gonzaga (13-2, 3-0) which had four players in double figures.
The No. 24-ranked Bulldogs were simply too much for the undersized and less athletic Saint Mary’s squad. Gonzaga out-rebounded them 39-22 and held the Gaels to 31 percent shooting from the field to collect its third straight win.
Despite still being short-handed thanks to injuries to Gary Bell Jr. and Sam Dower, Gonzaga looked much better than its pesky long-time West Coast Conference rival.
The Bulldogs shot 49 percent for the game, out-rebounded their foe, got consistent scoring from the starters and 18 points off of the bench led by the 13 points of Angel Nunez.
Beau Levesque had 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting to pace Saint Mary’s (10-4, 1-1).
Gonzaga continues its homestand Saturday as it hosts Pacific.
