NEW ORLEANS (AP) — When the New Orleans Saints take on the Seattle Seahawks this weekend, there’s more on the line than just which team moves on in the NFL playoffs.
The Port of New Orleans, in conjunction with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, is betting fresh Louisiana seafood that the Saints will be victorious.
The port’s president and CEO, Gary LaGrange, challenged Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani putting seafood on the line including boiled crawfish, wild alligator and New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp, complements of two-time Super Bowl champion and Louisiana native Jarvis Green’s New Orleans ShrimpHouse.
Yoshitani is betting a Washington seafood sampler, including crab, salmon and halibut on the game.
LaGrange served as chairman of the American Association of Port Authorities in 2006. Yoshitani is the group’s current chairman.
