DEADWOOD, S.D. (CBS Seattle) – The town that secured the legend of Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane may soon have another claim to fame.
A South Dakota businessman wants to combine an indoor shooting range with a saloon.
Greg Vecchi says the location would house several businesses, including a gun shop, a pawn shop, a shooting range and a bar called the Bullets and Beer Saloon.
He promises no one would be allowed to shoot of they’ve been drinking, but encourages patrons to drink after shooting.
“Sequence is important,” he told the Black Hills Pioneer. “Bullets first, beer second.”
Shooters will also be supervised and tested for alcohol consumption.
“I’m not going to put any of my licenses on the line,” Vecchi said. “I’m not going to risk my reputation or my licenses. We have to run a tight ship here.”
Vecchi hopes to have Deadwood Guns up and running by June.
“I want this to be a place where mom, dad and the kids can have fun,” he said. “A place where the whole family can enjoy the shooting sports.”
