Portland Fog Diverts Flight From Las Vegas

SEATTLE (AP) — Alaska Airlines has equipped its fleet of Boeing 737s to routinely handle fog, but an equipment malfunction on a flight from Las Vegas Thursday night forced it to divert to Yakima because of fog in Portland.

A spokeswoman for the airline in Seattle, Bobbie Egan, says Flight 619 had 93 passengers and a crew of six on board.

She says it landed about 12:30 a.m. Friday in Yakima. The airline hoped for a quick repair but another plane had to be brought in. Some passengers waited in the Yakima terminal. Egan says the flight finally reached Portland about 9 a.m. Friday.
