Oregon Man Accused Of Hacking Into Stepdaughter’s Instagram, Making Threats And Posting Her Private Pictures

CORVALLIS, Ore. (CBS Seattle) – An Oregon man hacked his 22-year-old stepdaughter’s social media accounts and broke into her apartment…all to stop her from drinking and dating, reports KPTV.

Brian Tilley told police he became concerned when his stepdaughter, an Oregon State University student who is not being named, started seeing a young man that he didn’t like.

He created a Yahoo account and emailed the stepdaughter, pretending to be the young man’s brother and threatening to publish private pictures on her computer if she did not stop seeing the man and going to bars, say court documents.

Tilley said he guessed her passwords and accessed his stepdaughter’s Instagram account 44 times between October and December.

Court records indicate Tilley then posted photos he stole from her computer onto her Instagram.

Tilley is accused of taking an ice pick in December and puncturing the tires of her roommate’s vehicle, then going back on Instagram to warn his stepdaughter that she was next.

On January 3rd, according to the report, Tilley broke into his stepdaughter’s apartment, took the liquor bottles he found and poured the alcohol down the drain.

Though he had a key to the apartment, Tilley admitted he knew he shouldn’t have been inside the apartment, says a police report.

Tilley has been charged with burglary, theft, coercion, computer crime and criminal mischief.

He is free on bail until a court appearance next month.
