A Hall of Famer stopped by Ferrall on the Bench on Thursday to discuss the Seattle Seahawks.

No, it wasn’t an NFL Hall of Famer, but rather, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer – former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, a diehard Seahawks fan who will be at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

“I went to the last playoff game – the 49ers game – and I’ve played a bunch of gigs that were surreal (and seen a bunch of shows that were surreal),” McKagan said, referencing a Led Zeppelin concert he saw in Seattle when he was 13. “You’re a 13-year-old kid and there’s pot smoke in the air and everything – and (it’s) Led Zeppelin, in the Kingdome, with 70,000 people. I never had anything to compare that event with until (the NFC Championship Game) two Sundays ago.

“I’ve been to plenty of Seahawks games – and yeah, the crowd’s loud and all that stuff – but it was something about what that team did in the fourth quarter, by going for it on fourth-and-7. From that point on, the team kind of rose above everything else.

Not to sound funny, but it was otherworldly. That team has been like this all year, figuring out a way to win. That defense, you can depend on them. (It’s) just a bunch of good guys who play hard.”
