(1090 The Fan) — Washington State dropped its ninth Pac-12 conference game, falling 81-63 to Utah, Saturday night.
Brandon Taylor led six double-figure scorers for Utah (16-7, 5-6) with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Utes who never trailed to avenge an earlier loss to the Cougars in Pullman back in January. Forward Jordan Loveridge added 13 points.
DaVonte Lacy scored 20 points and D.J. Shelton finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars in the losing effort. No other player had more than seven points for the Cougars.
Another slow start doomed the Cougars. Utah built a 42-26 first half lead after a 25-8 run over a seven minute span.
Utah shot 52.7 percent from the field while Washington State (9-14, 2-9) finished a shade under 39 percent for the game. The team was also out-rebounded 36 to 29.
