(1090 The Fan) — Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice will be cut from the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Rice, who missed the final eight games of the Seahawks’ season (including Super Bowl XLVIII) because of an ACL injury, was set to make $17.5 million in base salary over the next two seasons. The 28-year-old receiver signed a five-year deal with Seattle back in the summer of 2011, worth $41 million.
Rice tweeted the following late Friday afternoon:
The Seahawks have not yet commented on the report.
In three seasons with the Seahawks, rice caught 97 passes for 1,463 yards. Seven of Rice’s 12 touchdowns with Seattle came in 2012.
