(1090 The Fan) — C.J. Wilcox returned to his dominant form with 23 points and his Washington Huskies returned to its winning ways as a result, picking up a 86-62 victory over Oregon State, Saturday.
With 23 points, Wilcox passed Jon Brockman (1,805 points) for second on Washington’s all-time scoring list. The senior guard finished 10-for-15 from the field, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Andrew Andrews added 15 points and freshman point guard Nigel Williams-Goss had 14 points and 10 assists as Washington (15-13, 7-8) snapped a 7-game road losing streak with the blowout victory.
It was a tight contest early, with Oregon St. (14-12, 6-8) taking a 25-19 lead midway through the first half after a Roberto Nelson 3-point play. Nelson led all Beavers with 17 points and eight rebounds.
That was when Wilcox decided to go to work. Coming out of the timeout, Wilcox immediately made three consecutive shots for seven points leading Washington to a 14-2 run over the next four minutes that eventually yielded a 44-33 lead at the break.
The team started the second half on a 10-4 run and coasted from there, maintaining a double-digit lead for the rest of the game to earn the season sweep over Oregon State. Washington shot 57 percent from the field for the game and out-rebounded the Beavers by 20.
The Huskies return home for one final homestand prior to the Pac-12 tournament.
