(1090 The Fan) — The 2014 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, May 8. The vast amount of time in between now and then should indicate this will be one of many mock drafts to appear on 1090thefan.com before the real thing gets underway.

Gil Alcaraz IV of Rant Sports had an edition that has Seattle snagging Notre Dame tight end Troy Niklas in the first round. Alcaraz says Niklas could be “the best overall player at his position,” despite Eric Ebron and Jace Amaro getting more attention throughout the previous college football season.

Alcaraz says, “On top of being an outstanding blocker, he has underrated receiving abilities and will be a red-zone threat. The Seahawks draft based on potential, and Niklas has the potential to be the most versatile tight end to come out of the 2014 class.”

There are still six more rounds to go — see the entire list at Rant Sports here.
