(1090 The Fan) — Gonzaga concluded its regular season by cruising to a dominant 75-47 win over Saint Mary’s, Saturday night.
Sam Dower Jr. scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Zags, while point guard David Stockton provided 10 points and five assists.
Gonzaga (25-6, 15-3) shot 56 percent from the field, Saturday night. The Zags who previously clinched the conference title on Thursday, will head into the West Coast Conference tournament as the top seed.
St. Mary’s (21-10, 11-7), meanwhile, was held to 23 percent shooting (12-for-52) as it stumbled to its third conference loss in its final five conference games to close the season. Stephen Holt scored 10 points — all on free throws — to lead the Gaels.
A dominant first half helped Gonzaga bury a team that typically gives them problems.
After falling behind 3-0, Gonzaga reeled off a 21-3 run over the next nine minutes to take a commanding 21-6 lead midway through the half. The Zags had nine different players score in the half to take a 42-22 lead into the break.
Gonzaga head coach Mark Few emptied his bench in the second half with a lead that swelled to as many as 34 points.
