West Fargo, N.D. (CBS SEATTLE) — A North Dakota man was arrested following a domestic dispute in which he is accused of assaulting his sister in a sibling confrontation over “not putting the toilet seat down.”
Thaddeus Sean Morgan, 24, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Cass County District Court to one count of a Class C felony interfering with an emergency call and a Class B misdemeanor simple assault charge, WDAY News reports. Court records say authorities were dispatched to the West Fargo residence after Thaddeus and 23-year-old sister, Cynthia Morgan, allegedly engaged in a dispute over bathroom habits that turned physical.
“Cynthia stated that the argument was because Thaddeus was upset because she got mad about him not putting the toilet seat down,” reads the police report.
It is at this point, that the fight allegedly turned physical, as Thaddeus and Cynthia fought while she attempted to dial 911 from the 431 4th Ave. E residence. Cynthia told police that the toilet seat tussle led her brother to physically strike and restrain her from phoning West Fargo authorities.
“[Cynthia] stated that Thaddeus pushed her, hit her glasses of braking [sic] them and took her cell phone away from her when she was going to call 911,” reads the police report. “Thaddeus Morgan admitted to interfering with the 911 call and slapping his sister with an open hand.”
Morgan’s reported admission of restraining his sister’s call to authorities is what led to the felony charge in addition to the simple assault misdemeanor.
“He also admitted to grabbing her wrists with his hands and pushing her but stated she did not fall or hit anything,” continues the report. “He stated that she was throwing toys at him.”
Thaddeus’ next court appearance is set for April 2.
