(1090 The Fan) — Veteran outfielder Endy Chavez and catcher Humberto Quintero will reportedly be cut by the Seattle Mariners.
According to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune, the club will save on retention bonuses by cutting the two, otherwise it would have cost $100,000 per player to keep them in the minor league system.
In 33 at bats this spring, Chavez tallied ten hits and seven RBI — he also held an on-base percentage of .324.
Quintero managed seven its in 24 at bats, only one of which was an extra base hit.
