(CBS Seattle) — For anyone who owns a car and lives in Seattle, the results of this latest analysis of the parking situation in American cities won’t come as a surprise.
The financial advice site NerdWallet looked at data on the price of parking and vehicle theft rates to come up with a list of the top ten worst cities for parking your car.
Seattle landed at number eight, noting that it costs $27 a day and $285 a month to park in the city.
The worst city for parking was Chicago for its high parking rates and vehicle thefts. It costs nearly $300 a month to park at a garage in the Windy City. Oakland ranked second with a downright shocking vehicle theft rate 124% higher than the national average. San Francisco, New York City and Boston finished out the top five.
If you’re looking for a parking bargain, you’ll have to head to Florida. Three cities there ranked among the best cities for parking including Tampa and West Palm Beach. According to the data, it costs only $8.56 a day to park in Jacksonville.
