Seattle Pride Parade Celebrity Grand Marshal: George Takei

(CBS Seattle) — George Takei, the famed Star Trek actor, will be the Celebrity Grand Marshal of the 2014 Seattle Pride Parade, according to seattlepride.org.
The annual event takes place Sunday, June 29 at 11:00 am on 4th Avenue in downtown Seattle.
Takei, 76, has been a prominent figure in the LGBT community for decades — pushing for equal rights and helping amplify the group’s voice in social matters. The actor, who is openly gay, has served as the spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign “Coming Out Project” and was cultural affairs chairman of the Japanese American Citizens League.
Takei currently lives in Los Angeles with his husband Brad. They have been together for 27 years and were married on Sept. 14, 2008, at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.
