(1090 The Fan) — After an offseason saturated with drama surrounding Nick Franklin’s future in Seattle, the 23-year-old is finally heading back to where he wants to be: on the Mariners’ 25-man roster.
Franklin has been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to join the Mariners in Texas to face the Rangers, according to team officials. Franklin will wear #6 and be available for tonight’s game, the third of a four-game series.
The infielder appeared in 11 games for the Tacoma Rainiers batting .395 (17×43) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs and 13 RBI. He recorded at least one hit in 10 of his 11 games played (6 GS at 2B, 5 GS at SS), including 6 multi-hit games. He went 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI and hit his 4th home run last night vs. Salt Lake.
Subsequently, Seattle has placed Logan Morrison on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Morrison, 26, was pulled from Monday’s series opener vs. the Rangers prior to the bottom of the 1st inning (in starting lineup in right field) with a strained right hamstring. In 8 games he is batting .150 (3×20).
