(CBS Seattle) — Seattle police are looking for a man accused of stealing a toilet belonging to a Subway restaurant in West Seattle.
Subway employees claim the suspect flooded the bathroom and ran off with the key in addition to stealing the toilet and its tank.
The man reportedly walked into the restaurant with his family Sunday evening and made an order. During the time the workers prepared the order, the family waited in line while the man walked into Subway’s bathroom. He was was gone for “a long time,” according to witnesses. The man’s wife went to knock on the door after a while to ask her husband what was taking so long. Eventually, the man’s family left the restaurant with their food while he remained in the bathroom.
Police say shortly after the family left, the man emerged from the bathroom carrying a large, black plastic garbage bag and quickly left the restaurant.
Upon investigating the bathroom, employees found that the toilet and its tank were missing. The employees say the bathroom sink was running with paper towels clogging the drain.
The missing toilet tank is worth $500, according to Subway.
