(CBS Seattle) — A recent traffic stop in the Delridge neighborhood of West Seattle led to the seizure of $45,000 worth of methamphetamine.

Seattle police pulled over a motorcyclist believed to be chasing a car near the 7800 block of 16th Southwest at around 7:15 pm Monday. The 35-year-old suspect was subsequently searched and was found to be holding a shrink-wrapped block of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash, according to police.

After the man was arrested, the substance was analyzed and weighed, leading narcotics experts to value the amount at $45,000.

Police later confirmed the suspect has been convicted of 23 felonies with at least nine different periods of Department of Corrections imprisonment. The man remains at King County Jail for investigation of procession with intent to distribute meth and an outstanding warrant.
